If you do it wrong it doesn't count. That's what my dentist told me, and honestly it applies to a lot of things in life.
The proper technique involves holding the brush at a 45-degree angle to your gums and using short, gentle strokes. Most people just go back and forth like they're trying to sand a piece of furniture, and that's not great.
Here's a fun fact: the average person spends 38.5 days brushing their teeth over their lifetime. That's 38.5 days you could be doing wrong. Let that sink in.
